Tactical Rope Technician (TRT)

Tactical Rope Technician builds on the Tactical Rope Operator course. It prepares technicians to work in more complex environments using more advanced rope techniques, giving them a wider range of solutions at height. It is designed for tactical, government, law enforcement and military personnel.

More advanced techniques are covered on the Tactical Rope Specialist (TRS) course.

Course length:

5 days (30 hours)

Prerequisites:

  • Tactical Rope Operator (TRO)

Course content includes

  • Supervising a rope team

  • Anchor systems and mechanical advantage at technician level

  • Passing obstructions while ascending and descending

  • Narrow rope transfers and changeovers

  • Individual pick-offs

  • Artificial frames: easel leg tripods

  • Casualty care and packaging for horizontal and vertical transport

  • Horizontal edge transitions with an artificial high directional

  • Vertical edge transitions in descent without a high directional

  • Switching stretcher orientation

  • Guiding line offsets

  • Passing knots through raising and lowering systems

  • Non-reeving highlines

Assessment

  • Foundation knowledge

  • Personal skills at Tactical Technician level

  • Artificial frames: easel leg tripods

  • Passing an obstruction while ascending or descending
