Tactical Rope Specialist (TRS)

Tactical Rope Specialist is the most advanced course in the tactical rope pathway, for team members who need technical solutions in complex rope environments. Building on TRO and TRT, it covers advanced offsets, complex rope scenarios and reeving highlines, among other advanced techniques.

Course length:

5 days (30 hours)

Prerequisites:

  • Tactical Rope Operator (TRO)

  • Tactical Rope Technician (TRT)

Course content includes

  • Low-stretch cord anchors and front-tensioned anchors

  • Artificial frames: sideways A-frames, A-frames and gin poles

  • Anchor frames for raising and lowering

  • Two rope offsets and deflected offsets

  • Multi-stage and multi-pitch lowers and raises

  • Reeving highlines

  • Night and poor visibility tactical operations

  • Solving complex rope scenarios

  • Where used by your agency: rock anchors, improvised anchors in the built environment, horizontal aid climbing, powered winches, powered ascenders, jamb beam anchors and bolts

Assessment

  • Foundation knowledge

  • Personal skills at Tactical Specialist level

  • Rigging a sideways A-frame, A-frame and/or monopod
